The Terrible Two's

I have been wanting to start one of these blog-things for a while now and just haven't gotten around to it. So many interesting things have happened to our family since Bailee has been born. Unfortunately I have been diagnosed by friends and family as having a so called baby-brain which makes remembering ANYTHING impossible. And, yes, I still have it two years later.

This is my way of getting my stories written down so that I don't have to rely on my crappy memory for the rest of my life. Just the computer's. So I'll remember as far back as I can all the way back to Wednesday afternoon.

I was at Mom's (AKA Grandma Susan) picking up Bailee after work. I hit the curb in front of her house and popped a hole in my tire so I was expecting to be there for a while waiting for my night in shining armor to arrive. William would be at least another hour before he got off of work. So Bailee and I went up to Grandma Susan's room to watch Monster's Inc. The movie was almost over. We watched about 15 minutes before the part came that Sully was bringing Boo back to her house to say good-bye. Bailee was sitting very still with her back toward me and kept saying "Boo go bye. Boo go bye." She was crying! She is barely over two and she was crying because Sully had to take Boo home for good. I couldn't believe that she was impacted that much from a movie that she watches often but barely sees because she's so interested in all the shiny things around her. It was just cute.

Thursday night was COMPLETELY different. Bailee was being good for the most part even though she hadn't taken a nap at Grandma Peterson's (AKA Grandma GG) earlier that day. I tried getting her to bed a little earlier since she was getting crankier throughout the night. BIG MISTAKE! She got into bed okay, but kept calling me to come into her room. I came in and told her she needed to go to bed. When I left she started fussing and wouldn't stop. I came in one more time to tell her that she needed to go to bed. That did it. I could hear the full tantrum coming on. She started screaming and banging around a bit. Then the coughs started coming. After a while she started screaming for me "differently" so I went to check on her. The dinner that took her 45 minutes to eat was all over her crib. She had gotten herself so upset that she puked all over herself and everything in the crib. While I was cleaning everything up, she was dancing around happy as could be to be out of that bed. I thought that was a mess until...

Friday was actually our Utah holiday for Pioneer day. I had some fun plans to go to the parade in the morning with Bailee, but that was cancelled because of the fit she threw the night before. I woke up late...watched a movie with Bailee...small breakfast...yadda yadda yadda. The day was just a day to catch up and relax. Relax with a two year old? I should have known better. I put in a movie so I could paint Bailee's toenails. This is the only way this kid ever sits still as many of the family knows. So I got her nails painted and made her sit very still until they were dried completely. I put the nail polish out of her reach-I thought-and went into the kitchen to start lunch. I got out a pan and ran the water to get it hot. In all of about 35 seconds she managed to get the BRIGHT PINK nail polish from behind the baby gate, OPEN it and paint a BIG BRIGHT PINK DINOSAUR on the couch! Microfiber does not resist nail polish stains no matter how much nail polish remover you douse it with.

This picture was taken after we cleaned the cushion.
